Pinging The Services

I labored under the impression that with the new upgrade to WordPress ver. 2.3.1 that I no longer had to worry about double pinging the services such as Pingomatic or Technorati when editing a post. I often type very fast and have a tendency to not capitalize the first word of a sentence, so I have to go into the post and edit. Saving the post once again pings the services, and if you continue the process, you often get your site banned from the services you ping for being a spam blog. Not a good situation for a marketing blog.

I got an email the other day from MaxBlog that warned me of this. Wasn’t aware - I figured it was fixed because my old standby Pingfix was no longer compatible with the newest versions. I downloaded the free plugin from MaxBlog, and the situation is fixed. Now the services will be happy, and I won’t get banned for being a spammer. Give it a try. It integrates seamlessly and works well. I have already taken advantage of this great plugin…

Peace,

Charlie~

Hey DJ! Friday Q&A: Vinroc
Vinroc may be stoked to have grabbed a single from reggae icon John Holt out of the vinyl bins, but the soul fiend isn't content to just spin other people's classics. The DJ is busy running his own record label, and is about to release his debut full-length. We caught up with the Otis/Milk mainstay for a quick Friday Q&A. Name: DJ Vinroc Club night(s) where we can see you spin: Step @ Otis Lounge; Flavor of the Month @ MILK on Haight Style of music you spin: neo soul, hip hop, soulf
The perils of digital preservation
Between crashes and legacy file formats, there?s a whole host of reasons to be afraid of digital storage. Now imagine you?re the world?s librarians dealing with the only remaining copies of some major texts. Don?t trip over that plug. How do you preserve digital texts for future technologies that haven?t been invented yet? ?The state of things is that we?re in the digital dark ages right now,? Witt said. ?We?re losing a ton of valuable information that is electronic because of the transient na
When DMX Falls Down, He Gets Right Back To Committing Crimes
Not even when a recording artist is undergoing the most trying personal crises do they forget that their job, first and foremost, is to sell records. This is why after his arraignment in Arizona yesterday, the multiple arrestee DMX turned the focus from his arrest to his new album, Walk With Me Now, And You?ll Fly With Me Later, which he touted to the press. According to E!, this bit of advice: ?If you ever fall down, get back up!? Although, you?ve got to wonder how a guy who has been arrested

NO Officially Safe for Wealthy Interests Again
Bon appetit, refugees! Three years that one rainstorm, everyone?s finally agreed that enough time has passed for them to stop pretending they care that poor peoples? shanties blew over. So now, instead of using all their manpower to produce story after story about how rampant misappropriation of federal funds and authority have created shameful, unnecessary housing shortfalls, media people can get back to what more pressing matters: discovering which restaurant has the best lobster. Now the
Finding Good Groomer Can Be Safety Issue
If your furry friend is in need of a wash, cut, blow dry or mani-pedi, you don't have to look far to find someone willing to help.
Clueless.
PZ Myers has a link to this article about Harry Potter and and accompanying rise in the popularity of "Witchcraft". I read it, but its kind of long.  There's a lot of hyperventillating about the popularity of fantasy in the current culture, some self-rightous pontificating....but the really significant quotes are as follows: "In these standby novels, girls fret over friends, popularity, sports, parents, boyfriends, jobs and homework?or a neighborhood "mystery." But in this new darker wor

Theatre of Operations
I?m currently running set changes from stage right for Cole Porter?s ?Can-Can?, an annoying pastiche of every French cliche (as seen by Americans) in the book set to music. The show is not exactly my cup of tea, but I enjoy being part of the run crew. I?m wired via headset to the stage manager, lighting designer and the stage left lead and we all coordinate together around cues embedded in the action, lighting, dialogue and music. It?s a challenge and a good one as I?m required to pay attention
birthday weekend
I?ll probably be MIA for the next couple of days. This weekend I?ll be busy helping my boyfriend with his entry for the 48 Hour Film Festival, and Monday is my birthday! What?s at the top of my birthday wishlist? This drool-worthy shirt by roselabiche.etsy.com of course! I?m also in love with these summery halter dresses by graziolin, I just can?t figure out how much I would actually wear one. I?m doing the real birthday celebrating next weekend by going skydiving for the first time! Eep! A

iPhone roundup: Apple seeds 2.1 with new GPS features, possible copy/paste, also completely out of phones by Ryan Block, posted Jul 25th 2008 at 8:57AM Your morning iPhone news fix: looks like Apple's seeded a beta of firmware 2.1 (not to be confused with the supposed 2.0.1 that will fix the myriad bugs and issues with 2.0), which may have some new GPS features that would imply turn-by-turn directions. No argument from us if Apple really is including new Core Location hooks for tracking your d
